Aldridge is a village that has kept its shape. People stay put here. Families move in during their thirties and are still in the same house forty years later, which is exactly why so many of the care enquiries we take from Aldridge are about staying at home rather than moving into a care home. That preference is the whole reason our service exists.
The carers who work in Aldridge are the carers who know it. We keep the same small teams with the same clients rather than moving people around at short notice, because continuity is not a promise you can make on a website. It comes from employing our own carers, assessing properly before anyone starts, and having a care coordinator who owns your package rather than a rota that reshuffles itself every week.
Time is planned into a visit rather than shaved off it. Nobody in Aldridge should be paying for a call and getting three quarters of it because their carer was held up getting there, and if a visit is going to run late you should hear it from us rather than wonder. That is a scheduling decision as much as a caring one, and it is one we make deliberately.
We also work alongside the district nursing teams and GP practices that look after Aldridge, and with Walsall Manor Hospital when someone is coming home after a stay. If a discharge is being planned, we would rather be part of the conversation early than pick up the pieces a fortnight later.
Talk to the Walsall teamEvery service below is delivered by carers we employ ourselves, in the client's own home, on a plan written around how that person actually lives. Follow any of them for the full detail.
Help with washing, dressing, continence and getting ready for the day, delivered by the same small group of carers so nobody has to explain themselves twice.
Short, regular calls for people who need a hand at particular points in the day rather than constant support. Popular with couples where one partner does most of the caring.
The full package of support at home, from personal care through to shopping, laundry and getting to appointments in Walsall or Sutton Coldfield.
Cover for family carers who need a break, a holiday or simply an afternoon that belongs to them. Booked for a few hours, a fortnight or anything in between.
A carer who lives in the house, so someone is there through the night as well as the day. Often the point at which a family stops looking at care homes.
Two carers working in shifts for people whose needs do not pause overnight, including waking night cover and complex health conditions.
There are a lot of agencies to choose from in Aldridge. These are the differences that come up most often when families tell us why they picked us.
No agency staff and no self-employed introductions. Everyone who visits an Aldridge address is on our payroll, trained by us and supervised by us, which is what makes it possible to send the same faces week after week.
We assess in the home first, so somebody has seen the layout, the key safe and the stairs before a single call is booked. Our operations team then allocates the carers and sends your care plan through electronically, and your care coordinator stays the point of contact when anything needs changing.
Caring Care is rated Good by the Care Quality Commission across all five areas they inspect: safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. The report is public, and we would rather you read it than take our word for it.
We hold contracts with local authorities and NHS trusts across the region, so we are used to funded packages, direct payments and the paperwork that comes with both.
Care is arranged around your week and changed as your needs do. Add calls, drop calls or move them around when life shifts, and we will put the change through rather than treat it as an exception.
Dementia, Parkinson's, stroke recovery, catheter care, PEG feeding and end of life support are all within what our teams are trained and signed off to do.
Most packages here start small. A daughter in Streetly notices her mum is skipping meals, or a fall on the way back from the shops means the family wants somebody looking in. We usually begin with one call a day and build from there, because starting with more care than a person wants is the quickest way to have them refuse all of it.
A typical week might be a half hour morning call to help with washing and breakfast, a lunchtime visit to prepare a hot meal and prompt medication, and a short teatime call to settle things for the evening. Around that, the carer notices things. Post piling up, a fridge that has not been touched, a chest that sounds worse than last week. Those observations go into our system the same day and, when they need to, they go to the GP.
Then there are the weeks that do not go to plan. A hospital admission, a bad reaction to new medication, a family carer coming down with flu. We keep some capacity in Aldridge specifically so that we can add calls at short notice rather than telling a family to wait until Monday. It is the single thing that most often turns a first enquiry into a long term arrangement.
Care does not stay still either. Plans get reviewed after the first six weeks and then regularly after that, and quite often the review reduces the care rather than increasing it. Someone who came out of Walsall Manor needing four calls a day may only need one by the spring. We will say so.
Book a free care assessment
Four steps from the first phone call to the first visit. The assessment is free and we will be straight with you about costs before you commit to anything.
Call the office or send the form on this page. We will ask what is happening, what has already been tried and what the family is worried about. Ten minutes is usually enough to say whether we can help.
One of our assessors comes out to Aldridge, free of charge, at a time that suits. They will want to meet the person needing care, not just the relative who rang.
You get a written care plan covering what happens at each call, who is coming, medication, risks and what to do out of hours. If it does not read like your relative, tell us and we will change it.
We introduce the carers before the first call wherever we can. Six weeks in we sit down again and adjust, because the first plan is rarely the right one for long.
Most families arrive at this question without knowing where they stand, so it is worth saying plainly that there are three routes and none of them is the assumed starting point. Some people qualify for a funded package after an assessment by Walsall Council adult social care. Some take a direct payment and arrange the care themselves, which gives more say over who visits and when. Some pay for it privately. Finding out which applies to you costs nothing.
Cost is usually the hardest part of the conversation to open, so we will raise it rather than wait for you to. What you pay depends on how long each visit lasts and what time of day it falls, and live-in care is priced by the week instead of by the hour. There is no joining fee and nothing to pay for the assessment. Ask for the figures in writing on the first call and you will have them before anyone comes out to the house.
If you are not sure which route applies, say so and we will go through it with you. A fair part of every week is spent explaining the difference between council funded care, NHS continuing healthcare and paying privately. Often enough that ends with us pointing a family towards a free assessment they did not know they could ask for, which is a better outcome for everyone than selling them hours they do not need.
All team members are providing an excellent professional care service in looking after my wife. They are treating her with dignity and kindness in carrying out their daily care.
